About Us

SEYPEC is a fully Seychellois run organisation with a mandate to secure the country’s energy needs. Learn more about who we are and what we do.

Following the closure of the Shell Oil Company in April 1985 after having been Seychelles’ sole supplier of fuel for almost twenty years, the Seychelles Petroleum Company Limited (SEYPEC) was founded, with one sole mandate – fulfilling the country’s energy requirements through the supply of fuel. It was a bold act of national commitment for a small developing island state like Seychelles to control this crucial sector of the economy. SEYPEC is a government owned parastatal run entirely by a workforce of approximately two hundred Seychellois nationals.

Over the past three decades, SEYPEC has grown to become an important strategic entity behind the country’s economy and has been steadfast in its mandate to supply the islands’ fuel in an efficient and cost effective manner.

SEYPEC’s operations are based at three depots, namely the New Port depot, Airport depot and Praslin depot. Its main functions revolve around the storage and supply of petroleum products to the domestic and international market, the bunkering of vessels, aviation refuelling operations and the management of its shipping arm.

Today, the company looks back in pride at its past achievements and forward with confidence to the challenges of the future as it continues to provide for Seychelles’ fuel requirements with determination, innovation and flair.

Our Vision

SEYPECs vision is to become the leading oil company in the Western Indian Ocean, making Seychelles a regional and strategic hub for petroleum-related activities.

Our Mission

SEYPEC’s mission is to ensure the security of supply of petroleum for Seychelles energy needs and in doing so, provide its customers with fast, responsive and reliable services and quality products.  SEYPEC engages directly or indirectly in all petroleum-related activities that adds value to its business.

Our Activities

SEYPECs primary activities revolve around the importation and distribution of petroleum based products. From providing fuel to vehicles at the pump to the chartering of tankers worldwide, SEYPEC has diversified its portfolio to cover a wide range of services.

Our mandate to secure energy needs for the domestic market is of the highest priority. SEYPEC retails fuel LPG and lubricants through its service stations, distribution centre, and various retail outlets located around the islands. Bulk fuel solutions are also available for industrial customers with larger demands.

In addition, SEYPEC has progressively maximised its revenues through the expansion of its international operations. These services include marine bunkering, aviation refuelling, bulk storage, transhipment and transportation of petroleum products.

These activities serve the hundreds of vessels in Port Victoria and within the region, as well as the aircrafts landing at the Seychelles International airport. SEYPEC procures a variety of products to support its market. These include Unleaded Motor Gasoline, Gasoil (Diesel), Fuel Oil, Jet A-1, Aviation Gasoline (AVGAS 100LL), Lubricants and Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG). SEYPEC strives continuously to improve the grades of fuel, which all meet the international standard for fuel (ISO 8217) and in line with meeting environmental health goals. These products are distributed through pipelines, road tankers, barge, as well as cylinders for LPG supply.

Tanker ownership was added to the Company’s portfolio with the first tanker, MT ‘Seychelles Pride’, delivered in 2002 - a move initiated to diversify upstream and control the company’s own logistics. In recognizing the long term benefits derived in tanker investment, 5 more tankers were added to the company’s Shipping Arm from 2005 to 2009 respectively.

Having invested in strategic expansion and diversification projects, SEYPEC has earned the confidence of its clients both domestically and internationally over the years through its quality of products, reliability of service and cost-competitiveness.

SEYPEC aims to further capitalize on its expertise and strategic location in the Indian Ocean.  This has been facilitated by the Company’s 188,000mᵌ storage facilities, a deep sea port, state of the art firefighting infrastructures and computerized tank monitoring facilities.
