SEYPEC Marks Keel Laying of New Tanker
Seychelles Petroleum Company Limited (SEYPEC) has reached an important milestone in its fleet renewal programme with the keel laying of the first of two new tankers currently under construction.
The keel-laying, held on the 7th of January 2026, marks the formal beginning of the construction of the vessel and represents a significant step in strengthening the nation’s maritime and energy logistics capability. Traditionally regarded as one of the most meaningful moments in shipbuilding, keel laying symbolizes the transition from planning and design to the physical creation of the ship.
The two new tankers are being build to modern standards of the safety, efficiency, and environmental compliance, reflecting SEYPEC’s commitment to operational excellence and long-term sustainability. Once delivered, these vessels will enhance fuel transportation capacity.
The milestone underscores SEYPEC’S continued investment in modern maritime assets and its confidence in the future of Seychelles’ shipping and petroleum infrastructure.
